Woman dies following shooting at west Charlotte car meet

CHARLOTTE — A 34-year-old woman has died after being shot during a large late-night car meet in west Charlotte.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded on Saturday to an assault-with-a-deadly-weapon call in the 8800 block of Air Park West Drive.

At the scene, officers found Britany Hill suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hill died from her injuries on Monday and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The department’s homicide unit took over the investigation on Tuesday.

Detectives said the shooting happened during the large car meet at the location. Investigators have not announced an arrest or identified a suspect.

CMPD is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact a homicide detective or Charlotte Crime Stoppers. Anonymous tips may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
