Man falls from Crowders Mountain while trying to take photo, rangers say

A man is recovering after officials said he fell nearly 30 feet at Crowders Mountain Sunday.

The man, whose name was not released, was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.

State park officials told Channel 9 that the 23-year-old fell Sunday afternoon while he was trying to take a picture with a group of people at one of the highest points of the mountain.

He was airlifted to CMC with serious injuries but rangers told Channel 9 he was alert when emergency crews reached him.

As the weather gets nicer, park rangers were reminding people to be aware of their surroundings when they visit.
