Family searches for Burke County man missing since September

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Family members of a missing Burke County man are desperate and have now put up hundreds of missing-person flyers across the foothills.

Jason Sheffield, 31, hasn’t been seen since the end of September. His family has spent the last two weeks placing his photo and information inside stores and on car windshields.

His aunt, Ronda Lowman, says the family is not giving up hope and just wants Jason Sheffield home safe.

“I sleep maybe an hour a night, I can’t get no sleep,” Lowman said, “His cousin here, they’re really close and she’s having a hard time.”

Lowman said that there hasn’t been any activity on Jason Sheffield’s bank account.

She believes someone has information.

“We want Jason to come home,” Lowman said. “We want to know where he is at and what is going on with him. Does he need help?”

According to sheriff’s deputies, searches have been conducted near his home. They are also checking his financial records for any activity.

“I’m pretty worried about it,” said David Sheffield, Jason Sheffield’s brother. “We need answers, you know? I just want to find my brother, that’s all.”

Family members said that they have received leads. They are asking deputies to check an old well near their home and go to Jason Sheffield’s home in Connelly Springs.

Investigators in Burke County said they didn’t find anything in the old well.

“My gut is telling me something bad has happened,” David Sheffield said. “I just want to know.”

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
