Father Claims Bullying Made His Son Walk Away From School

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Monday a 9-year-old boy walked away from his North Charlotte school during recess.

Shane Knoblauch, the boy's father, told Eyewitness News he left Nathaniel Alexander Elementary School because he was tired of being bullied.

Eyewitness News called Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools about that claim and the district said it will investigate claims of bullying

Emily Ramseur called for help when she noticed the boy walking alone on several busy roads.

"He didn't want to talk to anyone. He just said he wanted to go home," said Ramseur.

District officials said the boy asked to go to the bathroom during recess when he left the school campus. They said the boy started walking home. He made it a mile away before police picked him up.

Knoblauch said he has been complaining to the school about bullying, but has not gotten much response.

"They investigated it last time i complained about this kid. He was just given a silent lunch. That ain't going to do anything," said Knoblauch.

He said CMS told him he missed the deadline to transfer his son to another school. But he is hoping they will make an exception. If they do not, Knoblauch said he will look into home schooling his children.
