1 charged after man’s body found in Statesville homeless camp, police say

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A homicide investigation is underway after a man’s body was discovered at a homeless camp in Statesville, police said.

Officers responded to a call after someone heard shots being fired Tuesday afternoon off Highway 140 near Exit 148.

George Charles Henry White III, 68, was charged with the murder of 55-year-old Allen Bruce Alexander.

The two, who knew each other, got into a dispute, which led to the homicide.

It’s Statesville’s fourth homicide in 2020.
