2 arrested, charged with murder after man found shot to death, Matthews police say

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Matthews police officers made two arrests in the shooting death of Cory DeShawn Carpenter, 27, who was found on the shoulder of Lakeview Circle near an abandoned vehicle, officials said.

Carpenter was shot several times.

Zatario Jarod Stewart and Tobias Lamario McNeil, both of Charlotte, were charged and taken into custody on Monday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested Stewart and Durham police placed McNeil into custody.

They were charged with murder and are being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
