3-alarm fire breaks out at South End apartments, Charlotte Fire says

CHARLOTTE — A three-alarm fire broke out Monday night in South End, officials said.

At about 9 p.m., firefighters said smoke was coming from an apartment building on East Bland Street at South Boulevard.

No injuries were reported and a puppy was rescued.

The sprinkler system controlled the fire inside the apartment where the fire started, fire officials said. There is water damage to the third floor and several units were affected.

The cause was an accidental fire in a kitchen, fire officials said.

It took more than 60 firefighters to control the fire in 50 minutes, officials said.
