CHARLOTTE — A 73-year-old man has died weeks after a serious motorcycle crash in Elizabeth, police said.
Police say Danny Simmons succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Tuesday.
Officers responded to the crash around 8 p.m. on Aug. 26. It happened at the intersection of Hawthorne Lane and East 5th Street.
At the scene, officers found a damaged Harley Davidson motorcycle and Simmons nearby with life-threatening injuries. MEDIC transported him to a local hospital.
Investigators believe Simmons was traveling southwest on Hawthorne Lane when he attempted to switch lanes. He lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to fall on its side.
This is an active investigation. Any witnesses to the crash are urged to contact police.
