Man wanted in Rowan County shooting arrested, deputies say

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested a man wanted in connection with a shooting that left one person seriously hurt on Dec. 17.

Deputies said they received a call shortly before 6 p.m. about a man being shot on Carter Loop Road. Juan Marcelino Gomez, 32, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Deputies said he had life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition.

Detectives said John Pierre Jandrew, 33, known as “Junkyard,” is the man who pulled the trigger.

Authorities said Friday that Jandrew has been taken into custody, and he is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

Before he was arrested, Jandrew was out on bond on charges related to an incident also investigated by Rowan County deputies in July 2021, officials said.

Deputies made two other arrests in connection with the shooting. They are accused of hindering the investigation.

Michael Ellis White and his wife, Jennifer Dawn Tucker, have been arrested for felony obstruction of justice, and accused of providing misleading information to investigators.

White faces an additional charge of altering and destroying evidence in the case.

White, who resides at the property where the incident took place, concealed video footage that was taken from his home security system.

The video captured the shooting and White attempted to prevent the evidence from being found.

Investigators learned about the evidence and a search warrant was executed at White’s home on Dec. 20.

As a result, investigators recovered a recording of the footage from White’s cellphone.

He is being held under a $50,000 secured bond and Tucker is under a $100,000 secured bond. They are in the Rowan County Jail awaiting trial.

In addition, deputies said Jandrew’s girlfriend, wanted for assisting him in the crime, was arrested Friday. Tiffany Nicole Trull is facing charges for accessory after the fact of a felony and felony obstruction of justice.

She is accused of driving Jandrew to the home where Gomez was shot. Trull is also accused of taking Jandrew from the scene to avoid being arrested.

No other details have been released at this point.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Travis Allen at 1-704-216-8715 or Sergeant David Earnhardt at 1-704-216-8741.
