CORNELIUS, N.C. — Atrium Health has broken ground on its latest major construction project in the Charlotte region.
The health-care provider on Wednesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for Atrium Health Lake Norman, its new community hospital in Cornelius. It is targeting a mid-2025 opening for the 170,000-square-foot facility at the southwest corner of Westmoreland Road and U.S. Highway 21.
The facility will include 30 beds, an intensive care unit with four ICU beds, two operating rooms, a full-time emergency department, maternity services, imaging services and a helipad.
