IREDELL COUNTY — The Iredell County Sheriff's Office confirmed it's investigating reports that multiple vehicles were hit by bricks that were dropped from an overpass above I-77.
The incidents happened around 9 p.m. Saturday near the Rankin Hill Road overpass, the Sheriff's Office said.
A relative of one of the drivers whose car was hit said family members were traveling northbound on I-77 when the brick fell from the overpass and came through the windshield. Both people inside were hurt by shattering glass.
Eyewitness News asked if there were any suspects or arrests but a Sheriff's Office supervisor wouldn't answer that. Additional details are likely to be released Monday.
