Dozens of campsites damaged by Hurricane Helene are reopening along the Blue Ridge Parkway just in time for the fall leaf season.
Much of Julian Price Campground near Blowing Rock has been closed for nearly two years following damage from the storm.
The National Park Service says cleanup efforts have allowed two additional sections of the campground to reopen, adding about 100 campsites for visitors.
Visitors at the campground said they were grateful to be back outdoors and enjoying the fall weather.
“The Park Rangers made us aware that they had just opened it up at the beginning of this month,” visitor Clark Black said. “The timing is great too. Perfect timing. That’s the Lord’s divine timing for sure.”
Campsites can be reserved through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.
