A national homebuilder is underway on a resort-style, active-adult community in Union County — the first of its kind in North Carolina.

Arizona-based Taylor Morrison says it broke ground recently on Esplanade at Northgate, a 196-home community that will feature luxury amenities and caters to buyers ages 55 and older. That project is located on a 31.9-acre site in Indian Trail, off Bonterra Village Way, near Saratoga Boulevard, according to Taylor Morrison’s website.

The price point for homes in Esplanade at Northgate will begin in the high $200,000s, a news release states. Floor plans will start at 1,200 square feet and include several ranch-style options, with the possibility of adding a second floor. The new residences will also feature the builder’s suite of healthy home products and technologies.
