‘Cam-olina': Billboards supporting Cam Newton pop up across Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Panthers fans are trying to make sure Cam Newton stays with the Panthers.

Billboards in support of the quarterback have been popping up around the Queen City.

One sign reads Keep Cam 1n Carolina and the other says Cam-olina.

The signs also feature the hashtag, #keepCAMinCAROLINA2020.

J.J. Hardy, the man behind the signs, told Channel 9 he raised money through a GoFundMe account to pay for them.

He said he wants team owner David Tepper to know there are true Newton fans out there.

“There are fans, a lot of fans out here who really support Cam and think that he’s the best option for us as quarterback and you know that you can’t easily replace Cam on the football field nor in the community,” he said.

Newton’s contract with the Panthers ends at the end of next season.
