LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — It’s time to announce Channel 9’s Big 22 Player of the Year after viewers cast thousands of votes, dozens of coaches across North and South Carolina weighed in, and our sports team had its say.
Channel 9 wants to take a moment to shout out all five of our finalists: Austin Ballou, Kaden Craft, Jaxon Dollar, Davion Jones and Kaiden Watkins.
These are all tremendous athletes and even better young men.
The Channel 9 Big 22 Player of the Year is Jaxon Dollar, the all-world tight end from East Lincoln High School. Dollar has lived up to the billing as one of the top recruits in the nation. The future Georgia Bulldog has put up eye-popping numbers.
He has 76 catches for more than 1,500 yards and 23 total touchdowns in just eight games. He also has seven sacks and three interceptions on defense.
