CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Charges against a Chesterfield County man accused in a dog attack have been dismissed.
In May of 2022, deputies charged Shantell Ross with several counts of involuntary manslaughter and vicious unleashed animals.
They said 34-year-old Scottie Brigman’s body was found in the middle of Bailey Sawmill Road covered in bite marks.
Deputies said Brigman was surrounded by four pit bulls and the dogs contributed to his death.
Prosecutors say during this week’s trial the judge expressed concerns about whether the state would be able to make its case.
Prosecutors agreed to drop all charges against Ross.
