Charlotte Post Foundation honors local teen with global health ambitions

CHARLOTTE — A local teen will be honored as a top senior by the Charlotte Post Foundation and hopes to one day help save lives.

Jade Mungai graduated from Palisades High School in May and is now in her freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill.

“My intended major is neuroscience with a possible double major in political science and possibly a minor in medical anthropology,” she said. “Because i do want to have a future in possibly the world health organization and/ or doing medical diplomacy across the world.”

Mungai’s parents are from Kenya and Ghana. She’s traveled and seen health disparities, which is part of the reason her goal is to help others.

Channel 9 anchor Erica Bryant will be the emcee as Mungai receives her Top Senior runner-up award and scholarship Saturday at the Charlotte Post Foundation banquet.
