CMPD officers in the University City area pursued the vehicle up Interstate 77 into Statesville before the driver wrecked on Knox Street, and the two people inside jumped out and ran off.
The Highway Patrol and Statesville police officers assisted CMPD in finding and arresting the suspects.
Overnight, police said the car they were chasing matched the description of a car involved a dangerous crime, which is why they began the pursuit. But the suspects are only facing minor charges, including driving offenses and running from police.
