CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified 34-year-old Wilmer Estuardo Martinez Duarte as the victim killed in a shooting Sunday near the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte.
Authorities said Duarte was shot in the stomach around noon near East Fifth Street and died at a hospital.
Police said 49-year-old Sean Lamont Dell followed Duarte before shooting him.
Dell then went to the Charlotte Transportation Center and boarded a city bus, where police arrested him.
Officers recovered a firearm and a black backpack from Dell.
Dell was charged with first-degree murder and is held in jail without bond.
