CHARLOTTE — A 34-year-old woman died after a car wreck Friday morning in east Charlotte, police said.
Officers got to the wreck at about 9:20 a.m. on The Plaza, just southwest of W.T. Harris Boulevard.
A Honda Accord driven by Bianca Gebremedhin had heavy front-end damage, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. A Ford Transit van was also involved in the crash.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene and spotted the Honda with major damage to the front of the car, and the van flipped over on the side of the road.
Gebremedhin was taken to Novant Presbyterian Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She later died. Gebremedhin was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
A 34-year-old man and a juvenile in the van were taken to Atrium Health Main with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gebremedhin was driving east on The Plaza, lost control, and crashed into the van going in the opposite direction, CMPD said.
It is unknown if speed or impairment were factors in this collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
