2nd suspect arrested in death of man shot several times behind south Charlotte hotel, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — A second suspect has been arrested after a man was shot and killed behind a south Charlotte hotel, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Christian Lawrence Siley, 23, was shot several times in the parking lot of the Courtyard by Marriott on West Woodlawn Road on April 30, police said. Siley died from his injuries.

In May, 24-year-old Alexander Holman was arrested on unrelated charges by CMPD’s Crime Gun Suppression Team, police said. After an interview with detectives, Holman was charged with first degree murder for his role in Siley’s death.

Then on July 26, police arrested Jasmine Howard, 25, in Lee Summit, Missouri for Siley’s murder. She is currently in custody of the Lee Summit Police Department and is awaiting extradition back to Mecklenburg County.

CMPD said Howard’s arrest was a collaborated effort of CMPD VCAT, FBI Charlotte Violent Crime Task Force, FBI Kansas City, U.S. Marshalls, Lee Summit Police Department and the Kansas City Police Department.

Police said they were called around 6 p.m. on April 30 when someone heard a gun fired at the Courtyard by Marriott. When they arrived, police said they found a person next to a car behind the hotel who had been shot several times.

Channel 9 asked police at the scene if the person was staying at the hotel.

“We don’t know if the victim was staying here. We don’t know if he was just in the area -- wrong place, wrong time -- or if it was a known situation,” Major Dave Robinson said. “But we are working back through that to see where that information leads us.”

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and ask to speak directly to a homicide detective.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
