Cornelius woman with rare eye cancer gives birth to twins

CORNELIUS, N.C. — A family in Cornelius has two new blessings this Christmas. Jessica Boesmiller recently gave birth to a healthy girl and boy -- Piper and Mason.

Channel 9 reported earlier this month that Boesmiller has a rare form of eye cancer called ocular melanoma. Her husband, Mark, is a firefighter in Charlotte and Cornelius.

Boesmiller underwent eye surgery several weeks ago, but doctors couldn't test whether her cancer has spread until after she delivered the twins.

Channel 9 has been following the Huntersville area's cluster of ocular melanoma cases for years.
