County considers redeveloping uptown property

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County wants to redevelop a major property along North Tryon Street.

County officials are considering turning the Hal Marshal complex into a 5-acre park and mixed-use development.

Private partners want to create a green space that features an iconic piece of art like Chicago’s “Bean.”

The county hopes this will have a major impact on North Tryon Street and will further discuss the project at a later date.
