Couple brings ‘Lulu’s flair’ to new restaurant in Plaza Midwood

CHARLOTTE — It’s LuLu’s — times two.

Jay and Miketa Davis marked the soft opening of LuLu’s Maryland Style Chicken & Seafood’s second location this week. That 2,800-square-foot restaurant is at 2308 Central Ave. in Plaza Midwood.

LuLu’s will be dishing up takeout orders for the next two weeks as the staff gets squared away on recipes, menus get finalized and the restaurant gets final touches. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday, to start.

A grand opening is set for March 17, with weekend brunch to be added later.

Expect the restaurant — dubbed Lulu’s on Central — to become a flagship for the brand, delivering seafood and soul food with Maryland spin, says Miketa.

She and her husband are Maryland natives.

“It’s the thing that’s missing,” Jay Davis says. “I’m not saying those pieces don’t exist already. They don’t exist with the LuLu’s flair.”
