Crash into power pole cuts electricity in Uptown

CHARLOTTE — A crash knocked down a power pole Wednesday morning in Uptown Charlotte, causing road closures and power outages for people in the area.

The crash happened around 9:15 a.m. at North Carolina Music Factory Boulevard, west of Graham Street.

Channel 9 crews spotted one car that flipped on its side, and a power pole was resting on top of it.

According to Duke Energy’s outage map, there were over a thousand customers left without power because of the crash. Duke Energy’s website estimated the power would be restored by noon.

Police said roads were blocked near Graham Street and North Carolina Music Factory Boulevard while crews were working to clear the crash.

MEDIC said one person was hurt and is expected to recover.
