Crews battle 2-alarm fire in Belmont

BELMONT, N.C. — Crews with multiple fire departments battled a two-alarm fire in Belmont early Monday morning.

Gaston Emergency Medical Services said they arrived to help the Belmont Fire Department contain a commercial business fire on Parkdale Drive around 6 a.m.

Investigators said they initially found a small fire that was quickly contained, but generated a lot of smoke. A second alarm was ultimately called.

Nearly a dozen neighboring fire departments and police agencies responding to help, including the Belmont Police Department, the Charlotte Fire Department, the Mount Holly Fire Department, the New Hope Fire Department, and the West Mecklenburg Fire Department.

GEMS said they had two units on scene but no injuries were reported.
