CHARLOTTE — Popular cookie chain Crumbl Cookies is reportedly closing dozens of locations.

At least 60 locations have closed this year. In Charlotte, the most recent closure came after the Steele Creek location closed its doors. The store had previously experienced a temporary closure in July following a health and sanitation review before closing permanently.

According to a Restaurant Business Online report, customer sales in August were 70% lower than in August 2024.

Co-founders Sawyer Hemsley and Jason McGowan stepped down from the company earlier in this year.

At least 55 Crumbl franchises have been listed for sale on broker websites, according to Restaurant Business Online.

Crumbl was formed in 2017 in Utah and went viral during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Charlotte locations still open:

  • 337 S Kings Dr
  • 9821 Northlake Centre Pkwy J
  • 7918A Rea Rd
