Curfew, new alcohol sales cutoff time to go in effect Friday in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE — North Carolina’s new stay-at-home order to slow the spread of COVID-19 starts Friday night.

You’re supposed to stay home between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless you are working or have essential travel plans.

Places that sell alcohol must stop at 9 p.m. and nonessential businesses must close at 10 p.m.

Restaurants can still serve takeout and delivery after 10 p.m.

Even with limited capacity, the CDC labels indoor dining as a higher risk of spreading COVID-19.

In the last week, at least seven Charlotte restaurants have temporarily shut down because workers tested positive for the coronavirus. Five of them have reopened.

Most restaurants have done everything they can during the pandemic to follow all the health guidelines.
