Cyclist fatally struck by driver in York County

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A bicyclist was struck and killed by a driver in York County Tuesday night.

Troopers say it happened just before 10 p.m. on Highway 274 near Ross Brook Trace.

A Jeep Cherokee struck the cyclist as they were traveling north along the highway. No one in the car was hurt, but the rider of the bike died at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Officials say they are still investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash.
