Democratic leaders hold rally in Charlotte in response to Tricia Cotham’s party switch

CHARLOTTE — North Carolina state leaders were in Mecklenburg County Sunday, rallying democratic voters in response to representative Tricia Cotham’s switch to the Republican party.

The rally was held at the party’s headquarters. Representatives Alma Adams and Jeff Jackson, Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton met with Cotham’s former supporters.

Cotham’s decision gave Republicans a supermajority in North Carolina.

“We’re going to work harder to be their voice because that’s who they are and what they believe is what they deserve,” Jackson said.

Channel 9 has reached out to the Mecklenburg GOP for a response. We are waiting to hear back.
