Deputies search for ‘armed and dangerous’ man they say shot into car, hurting 2 kids

PAGELAND, S.C. — Deputies are looking for a man who they said shot into a car, hurting two people in Pageland Saturday night.

Officials said Tebieus Melton shot into a car at Pageland Place Apartments in Chesterfield County.

According to deputies, five juveniles were in the car at the time of the shooting. Two were taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte due to injuries.

Authorities said one boy had life-threatening injuries. The other victim’s condition has not been released.

Deputies said Melton is wanted on five counts of attempted murder and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Melton was last seen driving a black Toyota Camry with South Carolina tag number PPG-276.

Officials said Melton was also in the car with another person when he shot into the other vehicle.

Anyone with information on where Melton may be is asked to contact the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office at 843-623-2101.

Investigators said this shooting is related to a homicide in April where a teen was fatally shot. Deputies have not said how they are related.

No other details have been released at this point.
