Suspect in custody after high-speed chase in Burke County, deputies say

A man was arrested Monday after deputies said he led them on a high-speed chase through Burke County.

Deputies said they received a call about a suspicious SUV, which they found out was stolen, near a house in Connelly Springs.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle led them on a chase that started in Connelly Springs and continued into Icard, reaching speeds of 100 mph.

The chase ended when the suspect crashed into a house along U.S. Route 70, officials said.

Channel 9 was told that the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran off through the house’s front yard.

Shortly after the crash, Channel 9 crews could see search dogs heading into the woods after the suspect, who officials named as 21-year-old Austin Neece.

Officials said they later found the suspect hiding under a mobile home and arrested him.

According to the Department of Corrections, Neece got out of prison last summer for felony breaking and entering.

Channel 9 was told that two other people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Officials told Channel 9 that they will review every part of the chase and crash.
