LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A Lincolnton man is facing multiple drug trafficking charges after Lincoln County deputies say they seized more than a pound of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit began investigating 46-year-old Paul Richard Walton Jr. about two months ago. Investigators conducted controlled buys and surveillance as part of the investigation.
On Aug. 25, deputies stopped Walton for an expired registration plate. A K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, leading deputies to search it.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies seized 466 grams of methamphetamine, 117 grams of crack cocaine, 29 grams of fentanyl, and 30 grams of marijuana.
Walton was charged with multiple counts of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl, as well as possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana.
He was taken before a magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a no-bond hold.
