Detectives respond to deadly shooting in west Charlotte, police say

CHARLOTTE — Detectives are investigating a deadly shooting Wednesday night in west Charlotte, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to Nobles Avenue off West Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m. They found someone there who had been shot.

The victim, later identified as 31-year-old James Michael Hinson, died at the scene, police said.

CMPD detectives believe they know who committed the crime.

“At this time, we do believe we know the individual who was responsible for this homicide,” Maj. Brad Koch said. “But we are not ready, at this point, in the investigation to identify who that individual is that we are looking for.”
