Donors provide south Charlotte couple who were homeless with life-changing gift

The couple lived in a tent off-and-on while on a five-year waiting list for a place to call home.

“A whole lot of patience and a whole lot of hope,” Richie Teeters said.

Richie Teeters had to walk 1 ½ hours each way to get chemotherapy treatment while he was battling leukemia.

They finally were able to move into an apartment.

In the video at the top of this webpage, anchor Genevieve Curtis speaks with the couple about their journey and a gift that changed their lives.
