CHARLOTTE — Part of Sharon Road in south Charlotte was closed for several hours Tuesday morning after a utility pole came down around 2:30 a.m.

The outbound lanes were blocked near Ferncliff Road, just south of Runnymede Lane, while crews worked to clear the scene.
Crews said the pole fell because of its age. No injuries were reported. All lanes reopened shortly after 5 a.m.
