CHARLOTTE — Slim Chickens cracked into the Charlotte market with its first restaurant this month — and more locations are on the way.

Break Bread Ventures’ Josh Frankel, Jonathan Crumpler and Rob Bryan have teamed up to bring 30 locations of the Arkansas-based chicken chain to the Carolinas and Virginia. That includes 15 restaurants in the Charlotte metro.

The first restaurant opened at 5535-A Prosperity Ridge Road in north Charlotte earlier this month.

Deals have been finalized for three restaurants in the Charlotte market: Fort Mill, Indian Trail and Concord, with locations set to start opening later this year. Additional sites are in progress in Pembroke and Columbia, South Carolina.

“We want to be a brand that has a substantial presence within the Carolinas and southern Virginia. For us, it allows us to better introduce the brand and product, through strategic partnerships,” Frankel says.
