Fire destroys neighboring Huntersville homes

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Two families in Huntersville are without their homes after a fire destroyed them Sunday night.

According to the Huntersville Fire Department, it happened around 7 p.m. on Barnstable Drive, off Shady Vale Lane and Gilead Road.

Investigators say fire from one home quickly spread to the other and left both with heavy fire, smoke and water damage.

Six people and three pets are now living with family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
