BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Burke County man is being charged after he hit a firefighter with his truck, according to the Highway Patrol.
A firefighter found Jacob White at the Brendletown Fire Station on Highway 64 in Burke County, authorities said. Lt. Ray Thomas said it looked like White was sleeping in his truck, so he went to check on him.
It was then that White put the truck in reverse and hit Thomas.

Channel 9 reporter Dave Faherty spoke to both men after it happened.
“You know, we’re just trying to help people,” Thomas said. “And people...some people just don’t want help.”
When asked if he was sorry for what happened, White said he was not.
“I think he caused me a problem,” White said. ”I was minding my business.”
Troopers said that White had left the scene, but they caught him a little later.
Thomas is doing well.
