Five generations celebrate woman’s 100th birthday outside Morganton nursing home

MORGANTON, N.C. — Five generations gathered outside a nursing home in Morganton Thursday to celebrate a woman’s 100th birthday.

Virginia Rader’s family members held up signs, wishing her a happy birthday.

She lives at the Grace Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center.

At the facility, 55 residents and workers have tested positive for the coronavirus. Radar’s family said she has not tested positive.

“We’re very concerned. She’s lost weight and she’s not eating. It’s really hard," said Rader’s daughter, Jo

The 55 positive cases at Grace Heights make up more than half of all of the COVID-19 cases in Burke County.
