Former NBA player teams with local organization to give meals to city’s homeless

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Charlotte Bobcats player made sure the people living in “tent city” near uptown Charlotte are fed and warm this holiday season.

On Saturday afternoon, Alexis Ajinca and Block Love Charlotte teamed up to hand out meals from Lulu’s restaurant, and they plan to come back Sunday to give blankets to everyone.

Ajinca said this is something his family is passionate about.

“I know we’re not the only city going through it, but you know, to see our own city struggle, to see people struggle, that’s why we find it in our heart to give back,” he said.

Ajinca said this Christmas’ giving effort is not a one-time thing. Currently, they are working on a foundation to further help the homeless community.
