BESSEMER CITY, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin a bridge improvement project in Gaston County on Monday, closing a portion of Long Creek near Wandering Lane.
Crews will be working to replace the bridge’s beams and deck. To bypass the work zone, drivers will follow a signed detour around the closure on Lewis Farm Road, N.C. 161 and Long Creek Road.
Officials expect the project to take about one month to complete.
State transportation officials encourage motorists to allow additional travel time, stay alert, and avoid distracted driving.
