GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A fugitive wanted on nine outstanding felony warrants in North Carolina has been arrested in Chicago, according to the Gaston County Police Department.

Police said Dimitrius Acrey was apprehended Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, following a coordinated effort involving two U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task forces.

Acrey was wanted on charges that include second-degree forcible sex offense stemming from a Gaston County Police Department investigation, felony probation violation, firearm offenses, narcotics trafficking, and assault by strangulation.

The department’s Criminal Investigations Unit began the original investigation. As authorities worked to locate Acrey, the U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force developed information indicating he was in Chicago.

That information was shared with the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, whose investigation led to Acrey’s arrest.

Gaston County police credited both task forces for their assistance in locating and apprehending the fugitive.
