Gaston County school for children with special needs closes due to COVID-19

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Gaston County school for children with special needs is closing because of COVID-19, officials said.

Webb Street School has two employees who have tested positive, and they are waiting for several more test results from both students and employees, according to officials.

District officials believe these cases came from exposure within the school.

Students will learn remotely until at least Sept. 21.

Health officials are working to contact anyone who many have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.
