GASTONIA, N.C. — The city of Gastonia has begun its search for a new operator of CaroMont Health Park, weeks after the team that had called the stadium home ceased operations.
The city issued a request for proposals Oct. 16 seeking firms to provide facility management services for the ballpark.
The RFP follows a Sept. 30 announcement by Zawyer Sports & Entertainment, operator of the Gastonia Ghost Peppers, that it would withdraw the team from the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball just three years after inception.
That decision leaves CaroMont Health Park without a team for a second time in its five-year history.
