CHARLOTTE — Girl Tribe Co. is saying goodbye to South End — and brick-and-mortar stores, at least for now.
The Charlotte company’s 900-square-foot store at 1800 Camden Road will close on Aug. 31. Girl Tribe co-founders Sarah Baucom and Carrie Barker decided not to renew their lease for that space. Girl Tribe has operated there since 2017.
“We’ve got to focus on the thing that’s moving us forward,” Baucom says. “The store, it’s just not right now. I’m not going to say not ever.”
Girl Tribe’s next chapter focuses on wholesale opportunities as well as brand and licensing deals tied to graphic tees, sweatshirts and hats, Baucom says. The goal is to create a lasting business model that can continue to grow — and to maintain 100% ownership.
