Group splits $1M Mega Millions prize after buying ticket in Concord

CONCORD, N.C. — A group of four have a million reasons to be thankful this holiday season.

The day after Thanksgiving, the group won a cool mil in the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Mega Millions drawing.

The $2 ticket, which beat odds of 1 in 12.6 million, was purchased at the Carolina Fast Mart on U.S. 601 in Concord.

Lorraine Dowe of Concord, N.C., Troy Dowe of Middletown, N.Y., Nicollette Rhodes of Linden, N.J., and Chad Payne of New York, N.Y., claimed the prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

They split the prize four ways and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, each took home $176,875.
