Historic Uptown facade demolished for data center

CHARLOTTE — A 100-year-old building facade in Uptown was demolished Monday.

The Court Arcade Building on East Trade Street is being torn down to make way for a data center.

The building was previously used as office space for a law firm.

According to The Charlotte Observer, the developer originally planned to preserve the facade. However, the permit calls for demolishing it, citing feasibility issues.
