Homeowners threaten to sell after suspects fire shots at house

Homeowners in a local neighborhood are  threatening to put their houses up for sale following an incident where several shots were fired into a home. An adult and a couple of teenagers were inside at the time of the shooting.

The incident happened just after 11 p.m. Sunday at a home in St. John’s Forest neighborhood, officials said. Channel 9 reporter Liz Foster counted 10 bullet holes in the garage door and siding of the home.

Investigators with the Union County Sheriff’s Office are asking for help to find out who did this and why.

“We’re still trying to gather information and piece together exactly what led up to it, why this particular home may have been targeted,” Tony Underwood, from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, said.

Before the shots were fired, a neighbor’s security camera captured the suspects as they walked past the home. Scott Heim, a member of the neighborhood community, said this shooting and other recent crimes is what is prompting families to put their homes up for sale.

“If this keeps up, I’m going to be putting my house up also,” Heim said.
