Two men charged with deadly shooting in University City, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police made an arrest in connection with a shooting death on Nov. 6 in University City, officials said.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. on Campus Walk Lane, which is near East Mallard Creek Road.

Officers said 23-year-old Xavier Adams was taken to Atrium Health University in a separate vehicle, and later confirmed dead at the hospital.

Willie Alan Swinton, 27, was charged with murder, police said on Dec. 3.

On Jan. 20, CMPD said they arrested another man, Azariel Araque, and charged him with murder, robbery, and accessory after the fact to murder.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.
